Who makes this, and how you can check it

Aprobify is a small independent study app. We are not a driving school, we are not affiliated with the California DMV, and we are not going to pretend otherwise — so here is exactly where the material comes from and how to verify any of it.

Where the questions come from

Every one of the 1,980 questions is written against the California Driver's Handbook (DL 600, rev. 6/2025) — the document the DMV writes the real test from. Not scraped from other apps, not recycled from another state.

Each question carries the section of the handbook its answer comes from. If you think one is wrong, you can go and read the source yourself — which is the point.

How it is checked

The whole bank was audited against the handbook in August 2026. That pass found and fixed real errors: 166 signs labelled as work-zone signs that were not, a scanning distance that contradicted the handbook, and a fog instruction that had it backwards.

Since then the content runs through an automated checker on every change, with rules that catch the mistakes a human reading 1,693 questions stops noticing — wrong sign categories, figures that drift from the source, questions that lost their explanation.

What we are not

Not the DMV, not endorsed by the DMV, and not a substitute for it. Fees, appointments and the test itself are all handled at dmv.ca.gov. Where this site quotes a rule, it names the section it came from so you can check it against the source rather than trusting us.

Who is behind it

Aprobify was founded on 12 September 2024 by Fernando Aguilera, a developer who built the first version after sitting his own theory test and finding that every app told him the answer and none of them told him why.
