After a DUI arrest, the officer may take your license and give you:
- A temporary driver's license valid for 30 days — correct answer
- A provisional license valid until your court date
- Nothing: you may not drive at all
Why
California's Administrative Per Se law requires the DMV to suspend the privilege; the officer may take the license and issue a 30-day temporary one. (Section 9, DUI Arrests.)
