Topic 1 · Introduction
Steering with one hand is acceptable:
- Any time your other hand is resting on the gear lever
- When turning while backing up, or when operating a vehicle control — correct answer
- Whenever you are on a straight road
Why
Those are the only two situations the handbook accepts, and when backing up the hand goes to the 12 o'clock position. (Section 5, One-Hand Steering.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
