Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
The traffic lights at an intersection are completely dark because of a power failure. You must:
- Follow the vehicle ahead through the intersection
- Stop as if the intersection were controlled by STOP signs in all directions — correct answer
- Treat it as a yield and slow down without stopping
Why
When a traffic light is not working, the intersection becomes an all-way stop: stop, then proceed cautiously when it is safe. (Section 7, Traffic Signals.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
