Large Vehicles and Trucks

If you see a truck signaling a lane change, it needs more space — slow down to let it in. They often signal well in advance.

Don’t cut off trucks — they require more distance to stop. When passing, don’t merge back in front of the truck until you can see the entire front of the truck in your rearview mirror.

You can flash your headlights to signal a truck that it’s safe to return to the lane after passing — this is common trucker courtesy.

Trucks often swing wide when turning, especially right turns. If you’re behind a turning truck, never try to dart to its right — you could get squeezed between the truck and curb.
