Braking distance grows as your speed increases because:
- The brakes lose power at higher speed
- The vehicle travels farther both while you react and while the brakes act — correct answer
- The tires heat up and grip less
Why
Both the reaction distance and the braking distance grow with speed, which is why speed is one of the most common causes of collisions. (Section 6, Braking.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
