Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
If you begin to hydroplane, you should:
- Turn the steering wheel quickly
- Brake hard immediately
- Ease off the gas and steer straight until traction returns — correct answer
Why
Hydroplaning means your tires have lost contact with the road. Braking or steering hard will not help because there is no grip to use — ease off the accelerator and hold the wheel straight until the tires bite again.
