Your vehicle starts to skid on an icy patch. The first thing to do is:
- Press the brake pedal firmly
- Shift into neutral and coast
- Slowly take your foot off the accelerator — correct answer
Why
On a slippery surface skid you ease off the accelerator, do not use the brakes, steer in the direction of the skid and try to get a wheel onto dry pavement. (Section 8, Slippery Surface Skids.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
