Before buying car insurance in California, you should check that the agent or broker is:
- Licensed by the California Department of Insurance — correct answer
- Registered with the DMV
- A member of the Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program
Why
The handbook points to insurance.ca.gov to verify the license status of the agent, broker or provider. (Section 10, Insurance Requirements.)
