If you delay reporting a crash to your insurance:
- Your rates will automatically go up
- It will be fine as long as you report to the DMV
- The other party may file a claim first and control the narrative — correct answer
Why
The first account filed frames the claim. Delay lets the other party set the narrative and can put your own coverage at risk.
Practise this in the real format
