Topic 2 · Requirements and Process
If you fail the vision test, the DMV will ask you to:
- Return in six months for a retest
- Have your eye doctor complete a Report of Vision Examination (DL 62) — correct answer
- Take the behind-the-wheel test with a supervisor
Why
The DL 62 is the form your eye doctor completes. If you pass wearing lenses, the license carries a corrective lenses restriction. (Section 3, Vision Test.)

Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
