Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
The pedestrian signal shows a flashing DON'T WALK or flashing raised hand. As a driver you should know that:
- Pedestrians may start crossing if they hurry
- Pedestrians must not start crossing, but drivers still have to yield to anyone already crossing — correct answer
- Pedestrians lose the right-of-way and you may proceed
Why
A flashing DON'T WALK tells pedestrians not to start. Drivers must yield to pedestrians even while it is flashing. (Section 7, Pedestrian Signals or Signs.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
