Which document do you need if your legal name is different from the one on your identity document?

- Nothing: the DMV uses the name you declare

Why
Name changes and updates such as physical description or gender identity go through dmv.ca.gov/dlservices. (Section 4, Changes to Your License.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
