Which is true about open container laws in California?
- You cannot have an open container of alcohol in the passenger area — correct answer
- It is only illegal while driving on highways
- It is allowed if you are over 21
Why
An open container may not be in the passenger area — including the glove box. It goes in the trunk or somewhere passengers do not sit. (Handbook, Section 9.)
