While recovering from a skid on a slippery surface, you should steer:
- In the opposite direction to the skid
- Straight ahead without moving the wheel
- In the direction of the skid — correct answer
Why
Steering into the skid is what lets the tires line up with the direction of travel and regain grip. Braking during the skid makes it worse. (Section 8, Slippery Surface Skids.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
