Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
Before an officer questions you about a traffic violation, the law requires them to:
- State the reason for the stop — correct answer
- Ask for your consent to talk
- Show you the citation book
Why
They must state the reason before questioning, and it must be documented on the citation or report. The exception is when withholding it is necessary to protect life or property from an imminent threat. (Section 6, During a Law Enforcement Stop.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
