Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
Before opening your door after parking at the curb, you should:
- Open the door slowly with the mirror folded
- Sound the horn to warn traffic
- Look for passing vehicles, bicycles and motorcycles — correct answer
Why
The handbook asks you to look carefully and exit only when it is safe. A door opened into a bike lane is a classic collision. (Section 6, Parallel Parking.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
