Topic 8 · Emergencies and Unforeseen Situations
If a collision causes only minor damage and no injuries, what is your reporting obligation?
- Report to DMV if damage is over $1000 — correct answer
- No reporting is necessary
- Only report if asked by the other driver
Why
The SR 1 goes to DMV when damage exceeds $1,000. Below that, with no injury, there is no DMV report — but you still exchange details. (Handbook, Section 10.)
