Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
When you park on a hill, besides turning the wheels you must:
- Set the parking brake and leave the vehicle in park, or in gear if it is a manual — correct answer
- Leave the vehicle in neutral so it can be pushed
- Chock a wheel with a stone or brick
Why
Equipment can fail, so the wheels are the second line of defence: the first is the parking brake plus park or gear. (Section 6, Parking on a Hill.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
