Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
You need to cross several lanes after merging onto a highway. You should:
- Cross where the lines are solid, which is safer
- Signal and cross them one at a time, checking your blind spots each time — correct answer
- Cross them together in one smooth movement
Why
One lane at a time, with a blind spot check for vehicles, motorcyclists, bicyclists and pedestrians before each. And never across solid lines. (Section 6, Merging.)
