Your right wheels drift off the pavement onto the shoulder. You should:
- Turn the wheel sharply to get back on the pavement at once
- Grip the wheel firmly, ease off the accelerator, brake gently and steer back carefully — correct answer
- Brake hard and stop on the shoulder
Why
Yanking the wheel can throw you into oncoming traffic. Grip firmly, come off the accelerator, brake gently, check the traffic behind and steer back with care. (Section 8, Driving Off the Pavement.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
