Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
A turnout area or lane on a two-lane road is for:
- Slow drivers to pull over and let faster traffic pass — correct answer
- Emergency stops only
- Passing on the right
Why
If you are holding up five or more vehicles, you are expected to use a turnout. (Section 6, Turnout Areas or Lanes.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
