Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
At a multi-lane left turn (two left turn lanes), you must:
- Switch lanes during the turn
- Turn into any lane you choose
- Stay in your lane throughout the turn — correct answer
Why
Stay inside your own lane from entry to exit. Drifting across during the turn is how side-swipes happen when two cars turn together. (Handbook, Section 6 — Turns.)
