Topic 4 · Defensive Driving and Safe Driving Practices
Your vehicle is not equipped with ABS and starts to skid with the wheels locked. You should:
- Apply the parking brake
- Quickly pump the brake pedal — correct answer
- Hold the brake down firmly until you stop
Why
Without ABS you pump the brakes quickly so the wheels turn again and you can steer. Holding the pedal down keeps them locked. (Section 8, Locked Wheel Skids.)
