Topic 3 · Rules of the Road: Traffic Laws in California
When you see a 'Slower Traffic Use Turnouts' sign on a two-lane road, it means:
- Turn off your headlights
- Accelerate to prevent blocking traffic
- You must use the turnout to let cars behind you pass — correct answer
Why
On a two-lane road, if you are driving slowly, passing is unsafe and five or more vehicles are behind you, you must use the turnout to let them by. (Handbook, Section 6 — Turnout Areas or Lanes.)
Practise this in the real format
Reading one answer is not the same as sitting the test. The simulator runs the first-time adult form: 36 questions, 6 mistakes allowed, 83% to pass.
